Ingredients
Chocolate Mousse
- 1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Peppermint Whipped Cream
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
Toppings
- Crushed candy canes
- Chocolate shavings
- Mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Heat 1/2 cup of the heavy cream until just simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 1 minute.
- Stir until completely smooth and glossy, then allow to cool to room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, whip remaining 3/4 cup heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture until a mousse consistency forms.
- Spoon or pipe mousse into serving cups and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- For the peppermint topping, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and peppermint extract until fluffy.
- Pipe over the chilled chocolate mousse.
- Garnish with crushed candy canes, chocolate curls, or mini chips.
