- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter (plus more for greasing)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Ingredients
- 1 (30 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns (thawed)
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (cooked and drained)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Optional: diced bell peppers or green onions for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the casserole: Spread hash browns evenly in the bottom of the dish. Top with cooked sausage, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese.
- Make the egg mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Pour & bake: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage and hash browns.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until eggs are set and top is golden.
- Rest & serve: Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with green onions or herbs if desired.
